Education Minister A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milan clarified on Friday (March 13) that the government is planning to form school managing committees consisting of individuals who have significant contributions to education, rather than “semi-educated” persons. He dismissed recent reports suggesting a relaxation of educational qualifications for committee members as “incomplete and distorted.”
Setting the Record Straight
The Minister made these remarks while responding to journalists’ queries after distributing prizes for National Education Week competitions and providing wheelchairs to persons with disabilities in Kachua, Chandpur.
“There is no question of relaxing the educational qualifications for managing committees,” the Minister stated firmly. “The information being circulated about including semi-educated individuals is a misinterpretation of our goals.”
Kachua as a ‘Role Model’
Minister Milan expressed his ambition to transform his constituency, Kachua, into a national benchmark for education.
The Vision: “I want to make Kachua a ‘Role Model’ for education first, and then spread this success across the country. One must fix their own home before advising others,” he remarked.
Government Strategy: He emphasized that the government is working through phased initiatives to improve the overall quality of education nationwide.
Exam Reforms and Integrity
The Minister also hinted at significant changes to the examination system:
Modernized SSC: Instead of following backdated methods, the government has taken initiatives to conduct the SSC examinations under a new, contemporary, and realistic framework.
Examination Conduct: He announced that a strict regulatory framework would soon be implemented for candidates, invigilators, and observers in examination halls to ensure transparency and discipline.
Call to Media
Addressing the press, the Education Minister urged journalists to report the “absolute truth” and avoid publishing fragmented or out-of-context statements that could lead to public confusion.
