In a move that has sent shockwaves through the diplomatic community, Mohamad Safa, the Permanent Representative of the Patriotic Vision Organization (PVA) to the United Nations, has suspended his nearly 12-year diplomatic career. In a public resignation notice posted on X (formerly Twitter), Safa leveled a chilling allegation: that the United Nations is quietly preparing for a scenario involving the use of nuclear weapons against Iran.
“A Crime Against Humanity”
Safa, who has served as the Executive Director of PVA since 2013 and held special consultative status with the UN’s ECOSOC since 2016, stated that he chose to sacrifice his career to alert the public.
“I don’t think people realize the gravity of the situation, as the UN is preparing for a potential nuclear weapon use in Iran,” Safa wrote. Reminding the world that Tehran is a city of nearly 10 million people, he added, “I suspended my duties to stop this before a nuclear winter occurs, so as not to be a party to or a witness of this crime against humanity.”
Allegations of Censorship and Threats
Safa’s resignation was accompanied by a scathing critique of UN leadership. He accused top officials of suppressed dissent to protect the interests of a “powerful lobby.” According to Safa, the UN leadership has refused to label:
The situation in Gaza as genocide.
The actions in Lebanon as war crimes and ethnic cleansing.
A war against Iran as a violation of international law.
Furthermore, Safa claimed that since October 2023, he has faced “death threats” against himself and his family for attempting to voice these concerns. He alleged that a “fake propaganda” campaign regarding Iran’s nuclear threat is being used to mislead the global public through mainstream media.
WHO Corroborates ‘Worst-Case’ Preparations
Safa’s warnings align with recent statements from Hanan Balkhy, the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean. In a recent interview, Balkhy confirmed that the WHO is indeed preparing for a catastrophic nuclear event.
“The worst-case scenario would be a nuclear incident; that is what worries us the most,” Balkhy stated. She warned that no amount of preparation could mitigate the damage, noting that “the consequences for this region and the world would last for decades.”
A Call to Action
Concluding his statement, Safa urged the global citizenry to take a stand. “Only the people can stop this,” he asserted, calling on individuals to take to the streets to prevent a military escalation that could lead to global catastrophe.
